Singapore might be a small country, lacking in natural resources. But we can still press on with tech and policy solutions for sustainable development.
Today, we unveiled the Singapore Green Plan 2030 (www.greenplan.gov.sg). It will build upon our sustainability efforts in decades past, and help us fulfil our commitments under the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.
By 2030, Singapore will be greener, with more land set aside for nature parks. We will deploy more solar power, and tap more green energy. You will see more electric vehicles on the roads, and an expanded public transport network. We will recycle more. Schools will become carbon neutral, and students will learn how they can make a difference. We will help SMEs go green, and promote green R&D activities. We will do all we can to combat climate change.
We need to ensure a Singapore for our future generations. All of us have to work together, and make Singapore a bright green spark for the world. – LHL

[7 actionable ways to get your first 1,000 users - pt.2]
Welcome to Part two of “7 actionable ways to get your first 1,000 users.” In part one we covered methods that solely relied on your own inputs, such as finding your customers online and offline, and using referral to scale with inviting people from your network. Part two is more geared towards using other parties to generate customers, but just like part one, the key is to test and find the right channel fit for your business. Essentially every major consumer app acquired their early users using these methods, including Netflix, Instagram, Uber, Tinder, TikTok, and many more.
4. FOMO - Fear of Missing Out
Nobody likes to be excluded, that's almost a universal law, especially when the grass seems greener on the inside. So by creating an immense value-proposition and restricting the number of people that can access your product/service, you can start leveraging FOMO to generate users.
Especially when your product relies heavily on user generated content, the higher quality your initial users are, the more value proposition there is for the masses who are on the outside looking in. This is how Pinterest and Instagram grew their initial users, by providing access to high quality designers and artists as their early users, and setting up an invite only waitlist to create FOMO.
5. KOL and Influencers
This one is pretty straightforward, you want to identify the opinion leaders in your space, reach out to them, ask for feedback, work with them, and if they love your product, ask them to share with their followers. This method also works well together with FOMO, if you provide access to the influencers followers, they are more likely to share with their followers.
6. Getting press
Getting press is actually not as hard as one would think for a first time/early stage founder. The key to working with media is similar to working with influencers and KOLs, the first step is to identify relevant media companies or writers that’ll be interested in your story. Two ways to get published is to either provide some unique insights or learnings that aren't general knowledge for them, something they can only get from you, or what you are doing can add to an existing conversation that is happening right now.
7. Built a Community before launch
This method usually pays off more than just customer numbers, as you are able to interact with potential users to improve your product, you are also building a following and becoming a KOL yourself. If you are really short on time and are unable to build a community yourself, the second best thing is to be involved in one. One sure way to ensure you’ll have 1,000 customers when you launch your product is to already have 1,000 people in a community interested in the problem.
Big thanks goes to Lenny Rachitsky for collecting these data and inspiring this 2 part article, I’ve linked to the original post if you wish to learn more about it.

for allowing me to connect with myself through this shoot. To remind me to continuously create art 💕
.
I started off last week with high energy and passion, wanted to start a weekly theme so I can share more of my creative ideas on this platform.
.
But life seems to throw curveballs at me..and last week it hit me real HARD, again. For the last two years, I feel like I haven’t been able to truly pick myself back up. I keep getting knocked down..again and again. And it’s easy to lose hope in this process. To give in to the hurt and pain.
.
It’s hard AF but I know deep down inside that I am not the same person that I am two years ago. Through it all, I found pieces of my strength that I never got to know.
.
This is unfortunately not a fun TikTok post, but I don’t want to post another travel Insta photo just to share the good side. How can we navigate through life’s gifts of learning about ourselves if we only see perfection.
.
I just think it’s so important for me to share the good and the tough. What I learnt this week, is that if I can put in an hour a day (or week) on working out, then I can put in an hour focusing on exercising my mental health. If I can spend two hours on Netflix, then I can spend two hours deepening my relationships (with my peers, family, partner).
.
My BIGGEST lesson, I used to ask my myself;
“Why am I putting myself in these horrible situations?”
“Why do I allow people to treat me this way?”
“Why am I so insecure and am not as confident as her?”
.
Now I see that these questions are mere reflections of what I’ve avoided to learn about myself..when they’re actually guiding me towards my strength. We’re so used to suppressing the ‘negative’, rather than allowing it to sit with us and to understand it.
.
What I need to ask is,
“Which part of myself have I not accepted? Is this why I am hurt by that person?”
“Have I been neglecting myself? Is this why I have certain people in my life?”
.
Now I see, that no matter how much you try to suppress the bad, it will always be there. But if we choose to work through it, we’ll already be living on the greener side of life.

Thanks to everyone who made this Bali trip possible for us. From the depths of our hearts, we sincerely appreciate you guys and will be ever gracious of your generosity.
Ubud is such an incredible place. The weather is a little bit nicer. The fields are a little bit greener. And I have to admit, that waterfall early in the morning was really majestic and grand. I highly recommend viewing it in the morning when most tourists aren't there yet. The trail to walk around close to central Ubud was also worth the excursion to find. Lastly, staying outside of the city center we found ourselves in a bind at night. We didn't want to eat hotel food so we weren't left with many options.
